Governor Sindh Mr. Mohammad Zubair has urged foreign diplomats to motivate their Governments for reconsideration of travel advisory to Pakistan owing to much improved law & order situation all over the Country specially in its financial hub Karachi.
This he said while addressing 4th diplomatic and foreign investment award 2018 at Governor House. Diplomats from China, USA, UK, Turkey, Japan, UAE and other countries attended the event. A large number of prominent industrialists were also present on the occasion.
“Perception takes a while to clear but the reality ultimately prevail”, said Governor Sindh and added the same is the case with the perception of law & order about Pakistan. Despite making huge improvement in law & order, the perception of 2013 situation is still present in the minds many of foreign investors, he opined.
Governor Sindh said that to convince, motivate and inform the world community about the reality of Pakistan and investment opportunities available here especially in Karachi many road shows have been conducted in UK, USA, UAE and Qatar. These have yielded very positive results and many foreign companies have decided to establish new businesses or expand their existing operations, he added.
Governor Sindh citing the example of 195 member Overseas Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI), said that half of its members are seriously planning to expand and enhance their present investment portfolio. This shows their confidence over the steps of Federal Government taken to promote and encourage business and investment in the country, he observed.
Governor Sindh said that foreign diplomats have played a vital role in promoting bilateral relations which has resulted in more investments in Pakistan. Their dedicated efforts have been fruitful and investors are coming in numbers to benefit from the conducive atmosphere of investment here.
Commenting on the misconception about CPEC, Governor Sindh said that this is an exemplary project which is not against any other Country. Foreign investments are essential for the progress and prosperity of any Country and companies from USA, UK, France, Italy, UAE and other Countries have invested heavily in various sectors of economy which has resulted not only in economic progress but also created huge employment opportunities, he added.
Governor Sindh said that Pakistan has given valuable sacrifices for world peace as a frontline state against terrorism. Despite suffering huge losses in the war against terror we are committed to continue our role of supporting efforts for making the entire region and the world a peaceful place to live, he remarked.
He lauded the contributions of Diplomatic Forum for the event to recognize and praise the contributions of foreign diplomats and said that it would further motivate them to endeavour more to cement the bilateral relations with Pakistan.
Patron-in-Chief of Diplomatic Forum Admiral (R) Tanveer Ahmed, member Advisory Board of Diplomatic Forum Dr. Shahida Wizerat and President DF Mr. Mohammad Asif Haroon also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the efforts of the Forum. They also informed Governor Sindh about the future plans of their institution.
Later, Governor Sindh handed awards to Consul Generals of different Countries including Mr. Wang YU, Mr. Guo Chunshui, Mr. Tolga Ucak, Mr. Nasser Bin Huwaiden Al Ketbi, Mr.Toshikazu Isomura, Mr. Stephen P Knode, Mr. Ameer Jasim Mohamed Alkhal, and Mr. Syed Tahir Hussain.
