Pakistan and Korea Bilateral Trade

 

The objective of Diplomatic Forum is to promote and provide platform for the socio-economic development of Pakistan. Therefore, Diplomatic Forum organized an interactive session to promote “BILATERAL TRADE BETWEEN PAKISTAN & KOREA”, His Excellency, Kim Donggi, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Karachi was the Chief Guest of the session.

Mr. Muhammad Asif Haroon, Founder President, Diplomatic Forum started the session with his welcome speech followed by the panel discussion of various Members of Diplomatic Forum and Business community. The panel included, Mr. Tariq Hassan, Former Chairman, Export Processing Zone Authority, Mr. Shafiq Ahmed, Managing Director, Dragon Security, Mr. Ahsan Mehanti, CEO, Arif Habib Commodities, Syed Safeer Ul Hassan, Chairman, Solo Group of Pakistan, Engr. M.A. Jabbar, Honorary Consul General of Ukraine, Mr. Hanif Khan Khurram, Senior Vice President, Diplomatic Forum and Chief Executive, Perfect Express International Courier, Muhammad Naeem Khan, Additional Registrar, Securities Exchange Commission of Pakistan. The host was Mr. Mubeen A. Durrani, Head of Marketing & External Affairs, Skills Valley.

During the session various well known personalities shared their views about the bilateral trade between the two countries. One of the panel member said that Pakistan needs support from Korea to export agricultural products from Pakistan. Both countries (Pakistan – Korea) expressed their point of view in the promotion of trade and investment. It was also mentioned that a lot of companies from Korea are currently working in Pakistan which includes; Maria Powers, Hyundai, Samsung, LG, KEPCO and a lot more to build strong commercial relationship in terms of business. It was also requested to the consul general of Korea to increase man power of Pakistan in Korea.

His Excellency, Kim Donggi, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Karachi appreciated the objectives of Diplomatic Forum to give both countries a better and stalwart relationship. He said in 1980s, Pakistan and Korea has developed strong ties which from time to time are improving and periodically enhancing. Bilateral trade between the two countries (Pakistan – Korea) is around 1.1 billion US$. KOTRA (Korea Trade Centre) is simulating essential part in development of trade between Korea and Pakistan. In 2005, up to 7,000 Pakistanis were living in South Korea. In 2013, PM of Korea has visited Pakistan for cooperation in defense production, science and technology and economic sectors conceding of 10 million$ to SUPARCO (Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission). Moreover, this relationship will help find the way not only to raise trade and businesses in a positive manner but also accelerate investors and foreign diplomats to encourage import and export for further development, economically and socially.
